Once again, I am getting sucked into a marketing malstrom. Once again, it is for Star Wars. I’ve been here before. In 1999. In 2002. And in 2005 (though, I did dodge the 2008 Clone Wars fiasco).
Oh well, we are who we are. I have been skeptical of J.J. Abrams’ take on the space saga of a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away; and frankly, I still am. Disney’s other powerhouse franchise machine, Marvel, continues to leave me disappointed with nearly every outing. But Star Wars is Star Wars, and as a fan of the prequels, I have to excited for this one, right? (since, according to pretty-much-everyone: it has to be better)
Well, my first foray back into fandom was the Force Friday Launch of toys for the new film, which took place starting at midnight, on September 4, 2015. I had quite an experience, which included grabbing the much beloved MILLENIUM FALCON (in Lego Form), giving it to another fan, and then getting it back (long story; arguably justified, at least according to everyone I tell. Not sure I’m proud of it, but these things happen).
