Maxin’ out before the madness of a two-year-old’s B-day

Today was the big day. After months of planning, we hosted a party for my son’s 2nd birthday.¬† My wife’s research and planning set the stage for a good time for the kids and their parents, and¬†People seemed to enjoy it.

The success in no small thing. We lost power the night before for a bit, which not only required our doing prep in the dark but also spiked our anxieties about possible loss of food. Plus, the pizza restaurant thought our 10-pie order was for 5/20 , not 5/19, so we had a brief panic on that front too. Fortunately, everything was still chilled in the fridge when the power returned on Friday, so our tangible losses were minimal. And the pizza not only arrived on time but was delicious. It could have been much worse. Of course, our sleep was thrown into disarray, too, which led to both my wife’s and my operating under a certain level of exhaustion. Regardless of the issues, the party went well, and we are grateful for that.

Here’s a look back on the days that passed prior to the big event.

Plenty on the mind…

2018 is nearing the halfway mark. I think we should all let that sink in for a moment.

Yes, the new year we celebrated so recently is now nearly halfway finished. I don’t know why I keep focusing on the fast passage of time this year. Perhaps I am just reminding myself that this year is going to end more quickly than I think; and if I desire to get done my 2018 goals list, I had better stay motivated and keep pushing; otherwise the year will be over before I know it. Regardless, it seems that this year is passing at an incredible speed, and I am not really sure how I feel about it.

But, I can debrief that next January. For now, I’ll just focus on this past week.

Me and my buddy, DeanDean, before experiencing Infinity War. My man Chris joined us also but was not there in time for the pic.

We are now in May 2018. Can you believe it? I kinda can because it’s been a full year for me but still—-whoa.

May is going to be a pretty good month for me. I am celebrating the 1-year anniversary of completing the GIFT OF WATER fundraiser, the 2-year birthday of my son, and the 5-year anniversary of the release of my first novel, Stronghold. Plus there’s plenty happening hereabouts and thereabouts in present life (like the release of Infinity War).

Here’s how I felt about the first week of this momentous month of May!

Becoming Who You Want To Be

One of the great paradoxes of life is that the only real constant is change. Regardless of what you do or how you do it, time still passes, your cells die, people age, and circumstances shift. We cannot freeze our reality, not even for a second.

Change is a material and inescapable reality. Because of this, you have a wonderful opportunity to change with it—not in some microscopic but mostly irrelevant sense, but rather in a vibrant gradual and tangible sense that betters the world. This is an immense opportunity…

If you know how you are changing.
